What Area Does DFVAC Cover?
The primary coverage area of DFVAC is Dobbs Ferry, New York. This includes Dobbs Ferry Community Hospital, Children's Village, St. Christopher's, Masters School, St. Cabrini Nursing Home and any commercial properties within the village.
Many are surprised to learn that DFVAC does not only provide EMS coverage to Dobbs Ferry, but also assists in Mutual Aid to other neighboring towns. If another agency is unable to get out to a call or has its resources taxed by a significant emergency, Dobbs Ferry will mobilize to assist them. Likewise, neighbors such as Irvington, Hastings and Ardsley will move to help Dobbs Ferry if we are unable to respond. This system of Mutual Aid assures that all the towns are protected, at all times through our joint cooperation.
During extreme incidents (such as those that occured on September 11th, 2001) DFVAC may also be called to help. The DFVAC is NIMS compliant and ready to assist in the event of any act of terrorism or natural disaster.
How do I join?

The DFVAC is composed entirely of volunteers who devote their time and resources to help their community and neighboring towns. We operate on the good will of those who pledge themselves and always open our doors to new potential members.
Volunteering your time as a first responder can be deeply rewarding. For many it can provide a unique challenge and a great way to give back to your community. The DFVAC also offers pension and incentive programs to active members who contribute a set amount of time each year.
If you're interested in joining us, you should first email us at the email below. You will be contacted and then you can fill out an application and then set up an interview with our committee.
BEFORE APPLYING READ THIS:
- Please only apply for membership if you live, work or attend an educational institution in one of the following areas: Dobbs Ferry, Hastings, Ardsley or Irvington.
- The DFVAC is NOT a paid service, it is 100% volunteer which means aside from the benefits outlined elsewhere on this site, no monetary compensation will be issued.
